For some time now, Community Living Australia has been supporting people in accommodation services transition to the NDIS. Accommodation services are referred to as Supported Independent Living (SIL) under the scheme.
SIL is help and/or support with daily tasks to develop the skills of a person to live as independently as possible. These are the supports provided to someone in their home (whether owned or rented) and can be in a shared or individual arrangement.
Assistance provided to someone will be included as part of their NDIS plan depending on the level of support they require to live independently in the housing option of their choice. Any other assistance or support (such as accessing the community) are funded separately in a person’s NDIS plan.
Community Living Australia’s SIL services help people with a safe and comfortable home. The supports can also help people:
- Learn new skills
- Make friends
- Get involved in their community
- Maintain their home and any tenancy obligations
We have a growing list of people seeking SIL support. If you have any questions regarding our services, please contact Community Living Australia for a confidential discussion and advice on the next steps necessary to help you live your best life possible.
